I was born and grew up in Spain. At the age of twenty one, I moved to London with the intention of staying for a couple of months and learning some English. I ended up living in England for the next 30 years, regularly travelling back to Spain to reconnect and stay in touch with my family, language and culture. I am currently living in Ireland.
I have been passionate about language and languages since my teenage years. While staying in London, as well as working and gaining experience in a number of different fields, in 1996, I successfully completed my BA in English and Linguistics and was awarded an upper second class honours degree.
Subsequently, after a few years working in areas such as Retail, Hospitality, Market Research and Education, in 2007, I qualified as a professional translator by achieving the Level 7 CIoL (Chartered Institute of Linguists) Diploma in Translation in English into Spanish.
I have been a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL) since 2017.
I began translating in the mid-90s and I have been a full-time freelance translator since 2014, when I decided to start my Root and Stem Translations business.
My main areas of interest and experience include Education, Linguistics, Literature, Market Research (consumer and pharmaceutical), Marketing, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology.
